Ford Mustang 1971

Mustang 1971

The 1971 saw another big change for restoration of the Mustang. It also would be the latest restoration of the first generation of Mustang. Presented at the end of August 1970, the new Mustang is more than two inches long and nearly two and a half inches wider than the 1970 predecessor. For the first time since the inception of the Mustang, the wheelbase was extended an inch to 109. "200 cid 6 cylinder was removed along with the 428, Boss 302 and Boss 429. Los'71 New engines are Boss 351, the 429, 429 and the Ram Air.

The Boss 351 produces 330 horsepower while the twin engines of 429 horsepower produced 370. On the outside, the famous Mustang corral returned. A new wide chrome strip on the edge of defenses and front hood was taken from the 1969 Shelby. The long bonnet now become the windshield wiper to cover hidden. Big, bold, triple lens tail lights appeared at the rear of the new Mustang. Flush mounted door handles replaced the anterior surface of the mounted units.
The interior reappears high standard buckets, a mini-console, and a new design of the instrumentation. Power windows were offered for the first time. The Mach 1 is followed la'71 offered. Are available with any of the V8 engines. A grid of honeycomb and color were introduced exclusive front bumper of the model Mach 1. The hood and fender chrome moldings were replaced with color trim introduced. "Mach 1" stickers were placed on the deck lid and defenses and special black or argent lower body paint was used.

New for 1971 was the Boss 351, which replaced the Boss 302 and Boss 429. The Boss 351 included a special 330-horsepower engine 351-4V Cleveland. The Boss 351 included a strikeout NASA scooped twist type hood with special locks and body side stripes. The Boss 351 includes a suspension of the competition with staggered rear shocks, four-speed transmission with a Hurst gear lever, power front disc brakes, dual exhaust, and the blocking of traction 3.91:1 rear end. There were a total of 151484 Mustangs built in 1971.
Few 1971 Shelby Mustangs were built. Those that were built were exported to Europe.

Based on the redesigned Mustang SportsRoof, the new chief was built to qualify a Trans-Am hand, a purpose rendered moot by the late Ford-1970 retirement of most forms of organizing the races. The advantage is that the Boss 351 was probably the only car with the 1971 performance of a real competition of the category of the engine.

Unfortunately, it has to cause the greatest Mustang ever. Among axles for the 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 was up an inch, and the car won 2.1 inches in total length, 2.8 inches wide, and put on about 100 pounds. His style was influenced by the latest models Shelby, which did not survive en'71. That left the Mach 1 and Boss 351 Mustang similar to those responsible for implementing the flag.

Mach 1 at the top of the engine is the 429-cid Super Cobra Jet Ram Air. Their credentials were strong - 11.3:1 compression, 375 hp, 450 lb-ft of torque - but its low TA-14 were second slower than the Boss 351. The Boss had less weight on their side and the exclusive use of a thoroughbred 351-cid V-8 car and the driver said he did "Z/28 resemble a motor fuel."

Their rods are shortpeened and Magnafluxed and their leaders, drawn from the Boss 302, had staged huge valves and ports. It had a radical change, solid-lift cam, 11.0:1 compression, a 750-cfm four-barrel, and an honest 330 hp. Ram-air induction, a Hurst-spent four speeds, and a 3.91:1 Traction-Lock differences were standard.

The engine, very tame in the street and a dervish on the track, coupled with a "competition" used F60Xl5 pneumatic suspension. Ultimate power curve is high, but the car was heavy and far from as balanced as Firebird Trans Am. In addition, the cave-like cabin was frustratingly hard to see, the trip was hard, and the gauges and controls were badly designed.

Mustang has moved from fourth to Clydesdale horse and its improved version, the Boss 351, lasted only one season. It was a fitting end for the total implementation.
