1982 Chevrolet Camaro

The third generation Camaros entered in 1982 as a truly all new designs. They were the first Camaros built without front subframes leaf-spring or suspensions. The interface will be held until now by MacPherson Struts and the rear uses a long arm twisting and coil springs. Engine all new options for 1982. In the bottom of the performance scale, buyers can request a Camaro with a version of GM's "Iron Duke" 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine rated at a pathetic 90 hp. Options include a 2.8 liter V6 engine rated at 112 hp (which is the base engine in the Berlinetta), or a four-barrel carburetor 5.0 liters (305 cid) small block V8 rated at 145bhp ( The engine was based on the Z28). Optional on the Z28 is a "Cross-Fire injection" (Regulatory Authority injection) from version 5.0 V8 which was assessed at 165bhp. The carbureted 5.7 could be mated to a manual or automatic transmission, but the Red Fire is available only with an automatic 5.7. A 350 Camaro T-Top, once again, the pace of the Indianapolis 500 and silver and blue imitation cars are some of the most attractive models in 1982. It is sad to note, however, that the actual pace car used a heavily modified 350 V8 that was not available to the public.

1983 Chevrolet Camaro

Comments: The Z28 was a nice jump power with the introduction of the "L69" engine option. This added a Corvette-spec tree cams, exhaust revised and restated four-barrel carb, which boosted the power output of 5.0 L69 "HO V8 to a more respectable 190bhp. All of this may also be able to connect with a new five-speed Manual transmission.

1984 Chevrolet Camaro

Comment: The problem Fire Red injected engine fell 5.7 performance since most of the buyers was 5.7 engine of the L69. A new four-speed automatic (the "700R4"), which now has the Berlinetta presented a panel digital funky instrumentation and overhead console. Fortunately, the digital instruments that were more entertaining V6 that has Berlinettas.

1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Camaro made a big step forward in performance with the addition of a new model, SWIR-Z, which is the name of the Race of Champions, which pitted all drivers of vehicles driving identical - in this case, the Camaro. The SWIR-Z appears large 16 "wheels and five single graphics. Carburetor versions of the 5.0 still available, but the big news was the addition of a port injection site (CFI) from version 5.7 to the Z28 and SWIR-Z Models which was assessed in a respectable 215bhp. 1986 Chevrolet Camaro

1986 Camaros funky received a blister on top of his rear hatches to accomodate the new federally mandated center high mounted stop light (CHMSL). There was also a new exhaust system of the cars not Z28 and a new base / are the two-stage system of painting.

1987 Chevrolet Camaro

Yield returned in a big way to the year 1987 with the return of 5.7 (350 cid) as an option in the SWIR-Z. Using the ICC, the 5.7 was evaluated at 225bhp, the most horsepower in a Camaro in 13 years, and had much better driveability. 5.7 while the ICC was possible only with an automatic transmission, the CFI 5.0 is now available with a five-speed manual transmission. 1987 also saw the return of convertible body style and the disappearance of the four-cylinder engine. The High Output engine fell 5.0 and 5.0 a new V8 rated at 165bhp became the standard Z28 engine. The model also Berlinetta was abandoned and was replaced by a 'LT option package. Camaros equipped with a rear spoiler CHMSL were incorporated into the wing, rather than an ugly house on the glass.

1988 Chevrolet Camaro

Chevrolet decided to simplify things and in 1988 made the spoiler standard on all Camaros. As the name SWIR is firmly established, again declined Chevy Z28 model, and all high-performance Camaros were now IROCs. Base Camaros received 15 of the old "five rounds of the Z28 and Z28 bordering the lower body. Z28 of 5.0 V8 is now optional in sport coupe, and won-throttle-body fuel injection system to 170bhp. IROCs could be ordered with the rare 1LE road racing oversize package that included disc brakes, an aluminum engine and a tight suspension.

1989 Chevrolet Camaro

The Rally Sport returned for 1989, but was renamed the "RS". The "RS" haircut was basically a package of clipping off the top of the base of the sports that contained either coupe and 5.0 V8 or V6 power. The SWIR from 5.7 CFI V8 has been promoted to the 240bhp, but the only visual difference between the 1989 and SWIR previous years has been the use of a "key step" resistance in the theft of the ignition key.

1990 Chevrolet Camaro

The SWIR was eliminated after the short 1990 model year, as Dodge Incorporated sponsorship of the series. The base V6 was extended to 3.1 litres (and won 5 hp) and driver side air bags have been added to all models.

1991 Chevrolet Camaro

Chevy Z28 model brought in the spring of 1990, which virtually enshrined in the previous SWIR left. The Z28 arrived with a new rear wing height, the lower body cladding new, new false hood scoops, and new five-spoke wheels, but last year was basically the SWIR model. The top engine shut down 5.7 TPI now 245bhp. Minor Camaros were virtually unchanged since 1990, except for the addition of air inlets untrue. A rare was the option Camaro B4C search vehicle, which was available only to the agencies responsible for enforcing the Act. The B4C was basically a Z28, badged as RS, with some of the valuables of the race 1LE package. Very few were built.

1992 Chevrolet Camaro

The Camaro received few changes for 1992, the last year of its third generation. All Camaros sported a "25 anniversary" of its flagship instrument panels. Moreover, a $ 175 "Heritage Package" of the lines offered in any Camaro.

The third generation Camaros will continue through the 1992 model year.
